Julene McAlister to discuss "Rural Health Clinics...the nuts and bolts".

On Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 1:45-2:45, Julene McAlister, President of Meridian Healthcare Consulting and managing partner at Prescoott Planning company will discuss "Rural Health Clinics...the nuts and bolts". The session will focus on an introduction to what an RHC is, the Medicare Conditions of Participation, the Survey Requirements, Operational Implementation steps, Reimbursement Considerations, Ongoing Operational Effectiveness Stategies, etc.

Julene McAlister, who is a registered nurse, has had extensive experience in providing consulting services for many health care strategic planning, management and positioning projects for inpatient facilities and outpatient programs. While serving in a national capacity, she has conducted numerous seminars and training sessions on medical necessity requirements, Medicare certification requirements, and has authored and co-authored published articles which address the reimbursement and clinical implications in development and management of acute and subacute, inpatient and outpatient programs including a variety of other services for many providers. Ms. McAlister has particular expertise in Medicare reimbursement, strategic program positioning, medical necessity for inpatient and outpatient programs and requirements for Medicare certification and licensure. Over the last twenty years, Ms. McAlister has directed the successful implementation and Medicare certifications for more than 70 new programs in 28 states, including 36 RHCs.

Rebakah Gatti to discuss "The Road to ICD-10: Avoiding the Potholes!"

On Friday, April 5, 2013 from 9-11am, Rebakah Gatti, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-I, CEDC, CPMA, will lead a breakout session on The Road to ICD 10: Avoiding the Potholes. The session will focus on ICD-10 for physician practices.

Ms. Gatti has over 30 years experience in the healthcare industry, both inpatient and outpatient, with specialty in Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Oral Surgery and Mental Health and Occupational Medicine.  Rebakah is a nationally known speaker and educator for physician groups and hospitals on ICD-10 preparation and financial neutrality, coding, auditing, modifiers, evaluation and management.  She is an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer.  She is also the author of "Introduction to Inpatient Procedural Coding Using ICD-10-PCS." Ms. Gatti is ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer for R.T. Welter and Associates.

Todd Welter to discuss "Managed Care in the Wake of the ACA (OBAMACARE)" and "Leverage in the Era of health Exchange"

On Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 10:45-11:45 and 3:15-4:15, Todd Welter will lead breakout sessions on insurance contracting and recontracting.  Mr. Welter will also be addressing copays and patient balances during one of his sessions.

Todd Welter, MS, CPC, has over 25 years of healthcare industry experience assisting physicians and other providers, hospitals and facilities with the business side of medicine. His main focus is increasing revenues and profitability. Mr. Welter holds a faculty appoitment at the University of Denver and regularly contributes articles, research and reviews for publications such as Physician Practice Magazine, Medical Economics and the Journal of Medical Practice Management. Todd Welter is the founder and President of R.T. On Friday, April 5th, 2013 from 9-11am Beth Katzenberg, EdM, MBA, CPHQ, CCE will lead a breakout session on Optimizing Workflow Processes to Maximize Clinic Efficiency and Operations.  The session will focus on the design of processes that will directly determine whether they occur successfully, smoothly, and without rework.

Beth Katzenberg is a Senior Advisor at Colorado Rural Health Center and a health care quality and compliance consultant.  Since 2000, she has worked with Colorado critical access hospitals and other rural health care organizations to improve their quality systems, processes, and outcomes.  Her experience includes assessing, developing, improving, and overseeing quality management processes and tools.
