Aubrey has spent several years advocating for those without a voice in order to bring about important change. At CCMU, she combines her deep understanding of Colorado’s health care policy world with her strong drive to make the legislative process more inclusive and to effectively implement beneficial health care laws. She is passionate about connecting policymakers and community networks in order to improve Colorado’s health care system. 



Alicia Haywood is the Policy and Advocacy Manager for the Colorado Rural Health Center. Alicia monitors state and federal legislative and regulatory issues related to rural health and serving as a conduit of information between rural Colorado, Denver, and Washington DC. Alicia earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado – Denver and a BA from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She was recently selected for the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Fellow Program, a year-long rural health policy training program.

Janet Pogar to discuss "Value Based Payment, Patient Centered Transformation and More"

On Wednesday, April 3 from 1:45-2:45 Janet Pogar, Regional VP, Anthem will join Patrick Gordon, Associate VP, Rocky Mountain Health Plans to discuss "Value Based Payment, Patient Centered Transformation and More."

Janet has worked on all sides of the delivery system, hospital, physician and the health plan negotiating contracts and/or working in operational areas. Prior to her rejoining Anthem in ’99, Janet worked with several physician organizations in Denver and Physician’s Network (IPA) and their associated (and only physician owned) HMO in Colorado Springs overseeing the operations of both the IPA’s and HMO. Janet oversees hospital, physician and all other related services for Anthem in the CO market. Her passion: always looking at ways to help reduce the cost of care/insurance.

Julene McAlister to discuss "Rural Health Clinics...the nuts and bolts".

On Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 1:45-2:45, Julene McAlister, President of Meridian Healthcare Consulting and managing partner at Prescoott Planning company will discuss "Rural Health Clinics...the nuts and bolts". The session will focus on an introduction to what an RHC is, the Medicare Conditions of Participation, the Survey Requirements, Operational Implementation steps, Reimbursement Considerations, Ongoing Operational Effectiveness Stategies, etc.

Julene McAlister, who is a registered nurse, has had extensive experience in providing consulting services for many health care strategic planning, management and positioning projects for inpatient facilities and outpatient programs. While serving in a national capacity, she has conducted numerous seminars and training sessions on medical necessity requirements, Medicare certification requirements, and has authored and co-authored published articles which address the reimbursement and clinical implications in development and management of acute and subacute, inpatient and outpatient programs including a variety of other services for many providers. Ms. McAlister has particular expertise in Medicare reimbursement, strategic program positioning, medical necessity for inpatient and outpatient programs and requirements for Medicare certification and licensure. Over the last twenty years, Ms. McAlister has directed the successful implementation and Medicare certifications for more than 70 new programs in 28 states, including 36 RHCs.
